A first grade teacher collected well known proverbs . For a quiz, she gave each child in her class the first half of a proverb and asked them to come up with the remainder of the proverb.

It’s hard to believe these were actually done by first grade kids (6 or 7 year-olds)!

1. Don’t bite the hand that feeds you.

2. Better to be safe than sorry.

安全比遗憾好。

3. It’s always darkest before the dawn.

黎明之前最黑暗。

4.  You can lead a horse to water but you can’t make it drink.

强扭的瓜不甜。

5. No news is good news.

没有消息就是好消息。

6.  A miss is as good as a mile.

失之毫厘，差之千里。

7. Love all, trust a few.

要公正对待所有的人，但不要轻信所有的人。

8.  An idle youth, a needy age.

少壮不努力,老大徒伤悲。

9.  Where there’s smoke there’s hope.

 留得青山在，不怕没柴烧。

10． A penny saved is a penny earned.

省一文是一文。

11.  Better late than never.

迟做总比不做好；晚来总比不来好。
